Your First Payment

Sending money on MoniPay is as simple as sending a text message. Here is how to handle your first transaction.

Sending a Payment

1. Tap Send: From the home screen, tap the large "Send" button.
2. Enter Recipient: Type in the MoniTag of the person you want to pay (e.g., @alice).
3. Enter Amount: Type the amount in USD. MoniPay handles the conversion to the underlying stablecoin (USDC/USDT) automatically.
4. Review & Confirm: Check the details. You'll see that the gas fee is $0.00.
5. Enter PIN: Type your 6-digit PIN to authorize the transaction.
6. Success: You'll see a confirmation screen with a link to the blockchain explorer.

Receiving a Payment

To receive money, you have two options:

1. Share Your MoniTag

Just tell the sender your MoniTag. They can search for you and send funds directly.

2. Show Your QR Code

Tap the Receive button. A QR code will appear. The sender can scan this with their MoniPay app to automatically fill in your address.

What Happens Under the Hood?

When you tap confirm, the app signs a message with your private key. This signature is sent to our relayer, which then submits it to the blockchain. The smart contract verifies your signature and moves the funds. All of this happens in less than 2 seconds.
